Add to Press & Projects
There are two primary types of posts that you’ll be putting here: EXTERNAL links to articles, reviews and the like, and INFORMATION posts that may have text and images. Items specific to EXTERNAL posts are in bold below.
To add to Press & Projects:
1. Click the (+) at the top of the edit navigation. This will open a new post in edit mode. If this is a link to an external article, review, etc, only the TITLE is necessary here. Otherwise, you can enter text, images, buttons, etc for your post here using CONTENT BLOCKS accessed via the TEARDROP-like insert point.
2. Click the GEAR icon in the top right to open the post SETTINGS. All of the important information that will be shared with your visitors will be entered within the SETTINGS areas.
3. I like to start in the OPTIONS area:
THUMBNAIL IMAGE
What you put in here can be included in the post as it appears in the SUMMARY BLOCKS elsewhere on the site. You can learn more about Summary Blocks here.
POST URL
This is typically the post title.
AUTHOR
Unless you have multiple contributors, there is really no need to pay attention to this. By default, it will be you.
SOURCE URL
Put the link of the EXTERNAL article, review, etc here.
LINK POST TO SOURCE URL
In order for the viewer to access the EXTERNAL article, this must be SELECTED.
EXCERPT
Put in a short excerpt or lead-in for the article. This will be viewable in the SUMMARY BLOCKS.
FEATURED POST
Select this ONLY IF you want the post to be visible in the PRESS & NEWS block on the HOME page.
4. Now let’s go to the CONTENT area:
CATEGORIES
Current categories used to filter posts via the added navigation links* on the PRESS & PROJECTS page are:
Press
Plays
Teaching
Activism
Science
By Lauren
Other categories can be used to give a little more context of what the post is, for example:
Interview
Profile
Review
Awards
Dramaturgy
You can add as many categories as you like, but I recommend you keep them simple and consistent.
STATUS
This is where you set the publish date for the post. You’ll see that you can revert any post back to a DRAFT, and you can schedule posts here as well.
5. Once you’re done with a post and ready to publish it, simply click DONE and then PUBLISH.
Your new Press & Projects post is all done!
